Overview

This unique leadership position will oversee practice operations at Richland Pediatrics with locations in both Mansfield and Shelby. Hours are Monday - Friday, 8am-5pm with some flexibility. No holidays or weekends. Travel is required between the locations.

The Clinical Supervisor assists patients to move rapidly, uneventfully, safely, and as effectively as possible through their episode of care. The Clinical Supervisor delegates, supervises and provides patient care, plans for education, collaborates on plan for discharge and provides for patient safety and quality.Demonstrates clinical competency, providing age-appropriate care to patients from the age of birth through 21 years, and select adult patients.In addition, the Clinical Supervisor assists the Program Manager in supervising clinical operations, planning, evaluating and controlling program services and ensuring that internal and external standards are met.

Responsibilities

1. Delegate patient care: Supervise patient care and clinical workflowsCollaborate effectively with all health care disciplines to facilitate patient outcomes

2. Communicates patient care needs/expectations/priorities to assigned Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Patient Care Assistants (PCAs), Medical Assistants (MAs) unit assistants, and registration personnel

3. Effectively relates and interacts with patient, families, and health care team and serves as a role model for others

4. Functions effectively as a Clinical Lead and oversees and facilitates unit functioning

5. Maintains professional standards and serves as a role model by setting professional goals and participating in activities to meet goals

6. Manages shift operations within unit/department budgetary standardsa. Performs daily staffing, scheduling within budget parametersb. Analyzes data to justify and/or correct variances

7. Provides leadership by delegating and supervising unit maintenance activities

a. Data collection

b. Infection control activities

c. e-Chart education

d. Safety and quality activities

8. Delegates and enlists staff participation in Patient Care Services and Hospital activities.

a. Policy/procedure review and revision with guidance from Practice/Program Manager

b. Patient/family advocacy

c. Shared governance

9. Participates in Hospital and community educational activities. Identifies educational needs and plans and presents classes.

a. Peer review

b. Serves as a preceptor/resource

c. Orientation and continuing education

d. Clinical competency assessment

10. Coordinates patient safety, quality improvement activities, and special projects.

11. Provides assistance to and coverage for the Practice Manager.

12. Plans and coordinates program activities to meet regulatory standards related to:

a. Environmental rounds

b. Occupational Safety

c. Ohio Department of Health

d. CMS and PFK Guidelines

13. Performs activities related to cluster/staff management:

a. Time and attendance

b. Scheduling

c. Event report follow-up

d. Performance appraisal

e. Competency evaluation

f. Corrective action/work improvement planning

g. Interviewing of prospective staff

h. Audits

14. Plans, implements and evaluates program changes with guidance from the Practice /Program Manager

15. Evaluates the clinical performance of subordinate staff

16. Coaches, guides, and disciplines in accordance with policies instituted by Children's Community Practices and NCH Human Recourses Administration

Qualifications

1. Completion of an OBN approved Licensed Practical Nurse Program required.

2. Licensure: Licensed in the State of Ohio as a Licensed Practical Nurse.

3. Must be BLS certified or willing to become BLS certified upon hire.

4. Three years pediatric clinical experience or equivalent combination of education/experience required.

MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to see, hear, stand, walk, speak, read and perform manual tasks with or without accommodation, and care for oneself with little or no difficulty. Must be able to independently lift up to 25 lbs. Must be able to move or reposition patients of any weight or size with the assistance of another person(s) and/or equipment.
