General:
This position has the overall responsibility to make sure that the sanitation standards implemented at the plant are in compliance with regulatory and internal Campbell's standards supporting the facilities' Quality and Food Safety Programs. This individual will lead and develop the Sanitation Auditor Team to ensure that all production equipment and facilities covered under the respective SSOP programs of the Napoleon campus are in a sanitary condition prior to being placed into service.

This individual will coordinate regular auditing of facility, GMP, and safety standards and take appropriate corrective action when needed. This position will work closely with the Quality Leadership Team to drive continuous improvement of sanitation performance. This position will act as a liaison with USDA Inspectors regarding sanitation related non-conformance reports and corrective action plans, as well as facilitate positive relations and pro-active management. Provide support to overall key Food Safety/Quality program efforts such as, SQF certification audits, internal GAP assessment audits, campus verification/validation activities, Master Sanitation Plan, HACCP program, and Food Security initiatives.


Principal Accountabilities:

  • 55% Mentor and train auditing team through direct observation of pre-operational and operational sanitation audits, providing coaching to individuals and team as needed.
  • 20% Participate in daily Team Direction meetings with auditors and Quality Team.
  • 10% Provide support for Plant Operational Excellence initiatives as needed in regards to sanitation procedural modifications and testing requirements needed to validate.
  • 10% Completion of audits and other tasks and projects as assigned.
  • 5% Work with chemical supplier to develop training relating to proper equipment cleaning and proper chemical usage, as well as work to ensure proper inventory is managed.


Job Complexity:

  • Manage the auditing of internal production equipment, coordinating auditor team to ensure seamless and consistent service.
  • Manage team to ensure continuous coverage during any time production is in operation within the campus, to include weekend/holiday periods, coverage for vacations or unexpected illness and be available to provide said coverage as needed.
  • Provide timely and accurate auditing of facility physical conditions and GMP standards, documenting and initiating corrective action for any identified deficiencies.
  • Complete follow-up on reviews of requested corrections to facilitate a timely and acceptable resolution.
  • Participate in Daily Direction Setting meetings as needed representing topics of sanitation, reporting to the team any related information and providing the team with assistance in resolving any sanitation related issues.
  • Manage assigned projects and programs to ensure timely results, including coordinating with other internal and external department personnel, managing the review, storage and archiving of related documents, creating new documents, revising existing documents, determining training needs and facilitating such training, complete analytical, validation and verification sampling and testing.
  • Function as a Subject Matter Expert on all issues relating to Sanitation as related to the specific functions of each plant, East and West, and operate as an approachable resource to all plant personnel in that regard.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma; GED
  • 5+ years of sanitation experience in a manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 4-year BS degree is preferred
  • 5+ years related food industry experience; Sanitation training/education
  • HACCP, FSMA (PCQI) and Better Process Control School certified is preferred.
  • Experience in a USDA facility is preferred.
  • SQF Audit experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated leadership abilities.
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Proficient knowledge of KPI's and data analysis.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with various levels of plant staff.
  • Effective presentation and training skills.

Working Conditions:

  • The working environment includes both office and plant floor settings.
  • Exposure to industrial noise, forklift traffic, moving mechanical parts, and temperature extremes occur in operating areas of the plants. Ability to move in and around equipment to include use of stairs and ladders.
  • Travel estimated at 5% or less.

Compensation and Benefits:

The target base salary range for this full-time, salaried position is between

$72,900-$117,300

Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation. In addition, we offer competitive health, dental, 401k and wellness benefits beginning on the first day of employment.
