IMEG is growing, and we'd love to have you join our team! We are currently seeking a Controls Engineering Graduate - Designer 1 in our Ann Arbor, MI office. As a Controls Engineering Graduate - Designer 1, you will be responsible for performing calculations, designs, drawing development, equipment and component selection, and programming for industrial control systems.

Principal Responsibilities

* Design, drafting and programming of electrical, control and instrumentation systems for multiple industries including, but not limited to, Water and Wastewater, Chemical and Pharmaceutical.

* Assist with the development of technical construction drawings including Power Distribution, Lighting, Motor Control, PLC/PAC control schematics, Network Communication, Grounding Systems, Instrumentation Plans, Conduit and Cable Schedules, Control Panel Layouts and Bill of Materials.

* Assist with calculations and analysis to ensure that designs conform to local codes and standards.

* Review of vendor documentation and client specifications to develop drawings and ensure that all design requirements have been met.

* Assist with the creation of PLC and HMI programs and provide remote and on-site de-bugging and modifications of existing client programs.

* Assist with coordinating design and schedule with other disciplines such as architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, technology, clerical and equipment suppliers.

* Assist with documenting design decisions, meetings, and instructions from client promptly while monitoring project design progress.

* Assist with review of all project documents for accuracy and completeness prior to requesting a final check.

* Conduct periodic job site installation supervision and commissioning activities including hands-on troubleshooting of electrical and controls systems.

* Other duties assigned by the employer.

Skills

* Strong interest in design consulting.

* Skill in the use of Microsoft Office programs, CAD software (AutoCAD Electrical preferred).

* Skill in PLC/PAC software programming (Rockwell software preferred) a plus.

* Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups.

* Routine local travel with occasional overnight stays.

Education and Experience

* Bachelor's Degree (Science) in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.

* Prior experience with industrial control systems including PLCs/PACs, HMIs, VFDs, Communication Protocols and Rockwell software a plus.

* This position is not eligible for sponsorship.

Physical Requirements

* Regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, see, hear, and lift objects up to 25 pounds.

* Occasionally required to drive, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach with hands or arms, and grasp or pull.

* Will have limited exposure to outside weather conditions and loud noises
