PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Enterprise Manufacturing Communications Leader develops and executes communication strategies to drive key priorities and initiatives within Owens Corning's manufacturing strategy. This work includes, but is not limited to, supporting various change initiatives impacting the enterprise through multifunctional teams, and creating branding and engagement strategies that reach all manufacturing employees. The success of our manufacturing operations relies on engaging all levels of stakeholders and includes communications support of the various change initiative teams working within the overall manufacturing strategy. This role requires an in-depth knowledge of the change management process and how to apply communications strategies and tools for the success of the various change initiatives in a manufacturing environment.

Span of Control: No direct reports

Location: Hybrid; within driving distance of Toledo, Ohio, preferred

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and implement the communication strategy, across various platforms, that support the Owens Corning enterprise manufacturing strategy. [Approximate time: 60%]

  • Develop, implement, and execute a communication strategy to support the enterprise manufacturing strategy. Partner with the Vice Presidents of Operations and their leadership teams to effectively articulate our key growth strategies and business goals, and to ensure that employees understand how they connect and contribute - both individually and as a team - to the growth and success of the company.
  • Work in concert with regional communications colleagues to effectively deliver integrated and unified communications voice and messaging across the global enterprise.
  • Align strategies, tactics, and messages with the business and corporate communications teams, as well as the over-arching Corporate Affairs strategy.
  • Integrate best practices and standardize processes across the businesses to ensure consistency across the enterprise and to advance the manufacturing, Corporate Affairs, and enterprise strategies.
  • Develop and analyze communication-related performance metrics to measure progress and to enhance future communications to better reflect what is most impactful.

Provide communication counsel and change management expertise to members of the Operations Leadership Council. [Approximate time: 30%]

  • Provide communications counsel and expertise to members of the Operations Leadership Council, enhancing Owens Corning leader reputations among employees and external stakeholders.
  • Provide coaching on communication strategy, presentation development, delivery skills, and written communications to manufacturing senior leaders and key initiative leaders supporting manufacturing priorities and initiatives.
  • Consistently evolve communication coaching efforts and toolkits to align with current technology, industry, or communication trends.

Develop and implement communication strategy, and provide counsel, partnership, and leadership support to achieve defined objectives for enterprise-wide initiatives in Corporate Affairs. [Approximate time: 10%]

  • Implement, and execute communication strategy for medium to large-scale, enterprise-wide company initiatives with global reach.
  • Partner with initiative leaders and cross-functional teams to effectively articulate key growth strategies and initiative goals, and to ensure that employees understand how they connect and contribute - both individually and as a team - to the growth and success of the company.
  • Stay abreast of communication trends and technologies that would positively impact the global employee experience, actively infuse plans with leading-edge efforts; and enhance the body of knowledge of emerging trends across the Corporate Affairs team.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, media, or related discipline.
  • 8+ years of experience in a communications role supporting senior or executive leadership.
  • 8+ years of project management experience leading large-scale change initiatives with enterprise-wide reach and influencing and aligning cross-functional and partner team members.
  • Experience related to manufacturing plant communications from plant-level leadership teams through front-line workers.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Media relations experience is preferred.
  • Experience in working for a multinational - ideally global - company; experience with a technology-driven, manufacturing company is preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills are required with the ability to write and produce content for multiple audiences/stakeholders in a variety of mediums.
  • Demonstrated ability in creating and executing communication strategy based on the priorities of the enterprise/business with a proven record of achieving organizational objectives and enterprise-wide transformation.
  • Demonstrated aptitude in building and cultivating cross-business and cross-functional relationships, influencing decision-making, and shaping solutions by helping partners articulate the desired outcomes.
  • Demonstrated aptitude to prioritize and effectively manage multiple initiatives, multiple constituencies, and diverse personalities under strict deadlines. A sense of urgency and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated aptitude to collaborate and work effectively with employees at all levels of the organization - from the shop floor to senior company leaders - and across geography and culturally diverse regions.
  • Demonstrated ability to bring rigorous business orientation and process discipline to the communication function - must present ideas and challenge the status quo in an agile, insights-driven, fact-based manner to executive teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve business results working across and with multi-national teams - understands, communicates with, and effectively interacts with people across cultures. Is aware of one's cultural worldview; one's attitude towards cultural differences; one's knowledge of different cultural practices and worldviews, and skills to interact effectively.
  • Ability to understand and operate in a matrixed environment - developing communications that are effective at the business and/or enterprise level.
