Job Summary

Direct the activities of processing and packaging departments in a safe and efficient manner for the desired quality, quantity and timely production of product.

Essential Job Duties

  • Supervising, scheduling and coordinating activities of associates on shift
  • Meeting established deadlines and objectives for shift
  • Maintain employee relations and adhere to company policies, taking disciplinary action when necessary
  • Maintain company standards for GMP's.
  • Observe all safety practices and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Coach, mentor, recruit and motivate subordinates.
  • Maintains good employee relations and adheres to company policies taking proper and judicious disciplinary measures when required.
  • Complete documentation and production reporting in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Communicate with lead operators, warehouse personnel, managers and other shift supervisors on a regular basis.
  • Project work as directed
  • Interview, select orientate and train associates.
  • Complete payroll time and research pay issues as needed.
  • Complete evaluations in a fair. Consistent and timely manner.
  • Motivate and lead team in a progressive manner with strong emphasis on continuous improvement.
  • Leader for shift sensory evaluation process.
  • Floor leader for plant continuous improvement efforts
  • Achieve goal level performances for key performance metrics
  • Shift leader for 5S program and program compliance.

Scope of Responsibility

Supervises both packaging and processing departments and is an independent decision maker.

Supervisory Responsibility

Packers, Machine Operators, Cooks, Urschel Tech's and Break Relief. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Lance policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Supervision Received

Works independently under general instructions; expected to determine how to accomplish the work assignment.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 2+ years of manufacturing leadership experience on a Supervisory, Lead or Manager level. Or 2+ years' experience overseeing or leading a team in a manufacturing environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associates Degree or Bachelors Degree
  • 2+ years of Food Manufacturing experience on a Supervisory, Lead, or Manager Level. Or 2+ years food manufacturing experience overseeing or leading a team.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, employees and vendors.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Knowledge of Database software; Internet software; Spreadsheet software, Word Processing software.

Compensation and Benefits:

The target base salary range for this full-time, salaried position is between

$47,600-$79,800

Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation. In addition, we offer competitive health, dental, 401k and wellness benefits beginning on the first day of employment.
