Patient Account Representative

Beaumont Behavioral Health (a UHS Facility)

A growing 144-bed behavioral health facility - Beaumont Behavioral Hospital provides a full continuum of inpatient services across the entire patient population, including specialty programs to serve adolescents, adults and older adults, and perform behavioral health assessments 24 hours a day. Additionally, programs for co-occurring behavioral health and substance use issues are offered to meet the unique needs of this patient population. The facility provides a robust outpatient program utilizing a combination of group, family and individual therapy.

Position Summary

Patient Account Representative (PAR) compiles all pertinent information on all admissions and discharges to reconcile computer records with the correct information. Patient Account Representative verifies insurance information with the third-party payer to obtain an accurate benefit quote. Follows up with billed entities to ensure payment. Must have experience with Medicare, Medicaid, Worker's Compensation, and other Governmental Agencies/Payers. Patient Account Representative tracks and reports patient account information. PAR complies, prepares, and posts customer charges to be billed or re-billed to third party payers. The PAR follows up on all assigned accounts. as well as collect monies from patients in two ways: face-to-face and by telephone.

Qualifications

Education: High School diploma or GED along with one-year certificate from college or technical school; or minimum 1-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience: Medical billing experience required. Previous experience in a mental health facility preferred.

This individual must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Diplomacy and discretion are essential, as well as excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple projects. Professional demeanor and appearance required.
