POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Automation will be responsible for developing and deploying our long-term strategy for automation and robotics, globally. This leader will have the responsibility to drive effective execution of comprehensive automation solutions across multiple facets of manufacturing including fabrication, welding, assembly, painting, and material handling.

CORE FUNCTIONS

* Develop comprehensive long-range strategy for automation, inclusive of new and advanced technologies.

* Generate a pipeline of automation ideas and applications that have been assessed based on feasibility and financial return.

* Ensure deployment of automation solutions attacks top manufacturing losses to improve efficiency, reduce operating cost and eliminate quality defects.

* Oversee integration of automation and robotic systems across all manufacturing sites.

* Collaborate with cross functional stakeholders and ensure clear understanding of milestones, risks, and mitigation plans.

* Manage capex budget for automation strategy and own associated savings forecast and delivery per business plan.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related engineering/technology-based field required.
  • 10+ years of related experience in automation design, integration and manufacturing systems is required.
  • 5+ years leading engineering teams or organization required.
  • CNC, PLC, robotic programming, and SQL experience required.
  • 2D and/or 3D CAD experience required (preferably AutoCAD & SolidWorks).
  • ERP or manufacturing software experience preferred.

Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge

* Ability to communicate effectively to executive and cross functional leadership.

* Ability to evaluate and analyze automation solutions, provide guidance to team on applications.

* Ability to manage risk effectively with equipment execution and develop mitigation plans to ensure timely project delivery.

* Strong knowledge of equipment safety standards and code requirements (i.e. NEC, ANSI, and OSHA standards).

* Strong project planning and ability to drive prioritization across multiple teams and sites.

* Stays connected with advancements in automation technology and new applications.

* Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite.

Travel

* Occasional travel may be required; up to 25%.

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES

* Lead: working team member who coordinates, supports, trains, and is a knowledge resource for other team members. No direct reports or supervisory responsibility.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

* This position is subject to Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Physical Activities

* This position is subject to the following physical activities: kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, and hearing.

Visual Acuity

* The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; expansive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly of fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.

Working Conditions

* The worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, including heat, noise, and vibrations from a production-based environment.
