Job Description

The Jackson Laboratory is seeking a Building Trades Technician to join our team!

This position is responsible for a variety of related tasks on building envelopes and interiors. Assignments include carpentry, masonry, painting, siding, flooring, lock installation & repair, windows, doors, roofing, furniture repair & installation, dry wall, ceilings, minor electrical, lighting, plumbing and other related tasks pertaining to general building maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Performs corrective & preventative maintenance on building envelopes, interiors, furniture.
  • Works with local contractors, obtaining estimates, monitoring job performance and safety. Advises management of known maintenance deficiencies and provides practical solutions for remediation.
  • Other general maintenance duties as assigned.
  • Provides training and mentoring to others in the maintenance of building envelopes, interiors, furniture, and its components. Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices. Provides general clean up, housekeeping, and maintenance of mechanical spaces.
  • Utilizes CMMS to track and preventive and corrective maintenance tasks and create work orders. Provide detailed written and oral reports/presentations on building envelopes, interiors, furniture, and daily pass down logs for internal use along. Develops new and improves existing SOPs to effectively document processes and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Able to complete applicable lead and asbestos awareness and handling training.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience working in general institutional or industrial setting performing relevant Building Trades.
  • Proven success in working in a fast-paced working environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others in person and in writing to clearly exchange information with people representing a wide diversity of disciplines and levels of sophistication.
  • Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to manage details accurately.
  • Detail oriented with exemplary time management and follow-up skills.
  • Demonstrated team player.
  • Demonstrated positive attitude and professional manner in all interactions; demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
  • Able to operate Windows based computers for basic administrative tasks such as email correspondence, time keeping and basic internet research.

Pay Range: $20.15 - $33.74 per hour.
