Semiconductor Manufacturing Technician

Summary of Role:

MACOM is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a semiconductor manufacturing technician at our Ann Arbor wafer fab. The technician will report into the manufacturing operations team for fabrication duties such as photolithography, wet and dry etch, metal and nitride deposition, wafer mounting/demounting, thinning, gathering statistical measurements, and conducting microscope inspections.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform a variety of functions in the production of semiconductor devices in a cleanroom environment.
  • Set-up, operate, load, and monitor specialized equipment to ensure quality product is produced.
  • May be responsible for monitoring equipment operation, inspecting final product, cleaning the work environment, and performing data entry.
  • Opportunity available on first shift, with opportunity for transfer to second shift (with shift differential pay) possible after completion of training.

Minimum Requirements:

  • At least 2 years prior manufacturing experience in semiconductor wafer fabrication, or an equivalent technology manufacturing environment.
  • High school graduate. 2-year degree in a technology related field, or military/vocational experience is preferred.
  • Solid computer and math skills.
  • Working understanding of semiconductor fabrication techniques and the material systems they utilize.
  • Good communication skills, both written and oral; ability to read and write effectively.
  • Comfortable working around chemicals while following safety protocols and using PPE.
  • Ability to multi-task and approach tasks in a detail-oriented manner.
  • Required to wear a cleanroom suit and proper safety personal protective equipment.
  • Great work ethic and ability to work collaborate with a dedicated team of fab technicians.

Pluses:

  • 5 years or more prior manufacturing experience in semiconductor wafer fabrication, or equivalent technology manufacturing environment.
  • 2-year degree in a technology related field, or military/vocational experience

General:

  • Must be driven to produce quality results.
  • Must be able to follow detailed procedures and instructions.
  • Must have the ability and willingness to multitask and work as part of a team.
  • Must be able to stand/walk at least 70% of the time during any one shift.
  • Must be able to work in a cleanroom environment wearing company-provided cleanroom suit, gloves, hair cover, and face mask.
  • Must be fluent in English, written & verbal.
