Job Description

Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc.(HATCI) is currently looking for a Technology and Innovation Analyst for our Superior Township, MI Research and Development facility.

Summary

The Technology and Innovation Analyst supports identification of advanced automotive concepts, features, technologies, and services for Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis brands. The candidate will develop expertise in automotive technology through desk research, industry conferences, and supplier meetings. This candidate will also facilitate workshops to develop new concepts and features using design thinking innovation techniques. The best candidate will have broad interest in automotive and consumer technology, and passion for organization and attention to detail, and enthusiasm for innovation. Reports to the manager of the Technology and Innovation Team in the Product Planning group at HATCI.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities, including but not limited to:

  • Study automotive, consumer, and adjacent technologies and market trends
  • Conduct technology sensing for vehicle technology from all areas including Materials, Electric Propulsion, Connectivity, Driver Assistance, Electronics and share findings with relevant engineering teams
  • Coordinate technology sensing activities including conferences and supplier meetings, following up with participants to gather information for report out
  • Follow emerging vehicle-adjacent technology areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Semiconductors, Advanced Computing and share notable news, trends, and market insights with others in the team
  • Lead ideation workshops to generate new concepts and features using design thinking innovation techniques for each next generation Hyundai, Kia, Genesis vehicles based on Customer Insight Research
  • Create feature cards for top concepts to use in customer research
  • Maintain database of technology and innovation intelligence and utilize to generate recommendations for future vehicles considering customer needs and timing
  • Work with various teams to understand feasibility, desirability, and viability of new technologies and features
  • Interfaces with other teams throughout this process
  • Available to travel to conferences, trainings, etc. up to 20% of the time
  • Available to participate in regular conference calls with overseas counterparts outside of normal work hours, typically early evening

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering or similar Science (Preferred) or Business Degree
  • Strong Technical Knowledge Base (Required)
  • Experience working in culturally diverse team environment
  • 5+ years of experience

Required Skills

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate integrity and ethical behavior
  • Willingness and aptitude to become proficient in advanced vehicle technology in all subject areas
  • Attention to detail in reporting and recording keeping
  • Effective written and oral communicator using Microsoft Office suite
  • Highly creative and familiar with using structured innovation techniques to develop products or services
  • Self-starter and quick learner
  • Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Previously part of a skunkworks, mobility, or product planning team
  • Certified in innovation facilitation
