Registered Nurse - 5th Floor Med Surg Unit - 24 Hours - Day Shift

Eligible for part-time benefits

Shift: 7am-7pm, alternating weekends and holidays

GENERAL SUMMARY

Unit Overview:

The 5th Floor Med Surg Unit is a 44 bed capacity -preferred hospice unit. The patient population is a combination of young adults through their lifespan. 16 beds can consists of tele patients. Our surgical patients are those that have undergone surgeries that require in- patient monitoring. We provide comfort for the End of Life patients while utilizing Palliative and Hospice Care as a resource.

* Provides leadership in the coordination and delivery of quality compassionate patient care.

* Utilizes the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, to provide, delegate, supervise and document care and teaching of patients and family.

* Effectively communicates pertinent patient/family information to health care team.

* Participates in finding solutions for variances from patient goals and ensures implementation of solutions.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

* BSN preferred.

* Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.

* Clinical knowledge and analytical abilities necessary to formulate effective nursing care plans.

* Ability to perform a wide variety of professional nursing services.

* Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, and hospital personnel.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED

* Current licensure by the Michigan State Board of Nursing.
