Senior Quality Engineer

Job Description:

The Quality Engineer will be responsible for driving continuous improvement in the quality and reliability of MACOM's high-speed optical receiver and detector products. As the first line of contact, they will be the site representative for product and process quality. Overseeing supplier, manufacturing and customer quality performance.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support internal auditing and implementation of Quality Management Systems (ISO9001 / AS9100D).
  • Lead failure investigation and corrective action for customer related failures and facilitate customer quality & reliability interactions.
  • Work constructively with development and the manufacturing engineering teams to perform FMEA and establish quality checkpoints to drive towards zero-defects in production.
  • Monitor and participate in New Product Development projects, driving Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Reliability (DFR) practices in stage-gate NPI process.
  • Work directly with suppliers to ensure compliance of supplied materials.
  • Develop QA tools, capabilities, and talent to continuously improve our quality systems.
  • Communicate quality issues to the MACOM leadership team with recommendations for improvements.
  • Identify and initiate actions that will result in continuous improvement of the Quality System, products, and processes.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry or Physics.
  • More than 5 years of experience in Quality Engineering in a semiconductor manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of semiconductor processing, preferably with experience in III-V (GaAs, GaN or lnP) based processes.
  • Understanding and working knowledge of the key elements of ISO9001 and/or AS9100D Quality Management Systems.
  • Manufacturing Statistical Process Control, (SPC, Process Capability, DOE).
  • Problem-solving methodology such as six-sigma Black Belt, 8D, or Global Problem Solving.
  • Strong data analysis skills, proficient in the use of statistical and data analysis software a plus.
  • Experience in driving Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Reliability (DFR) in a stage-gate NPI process.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (both written and verbal) are required.
  • Leadership, assertiveness, ability to be a team player with positive attitude.
